Disability Employment Adviser

Disability Employment Advisers, based at the local Jobcentre, can arrange for an assessment of your individual needs.

They can offer advice and support, training, fares to work and access to equipment through the Access to Work Scheme.

Croydon Employment and Support Services (CESS)

CESS is a service that supports people with disbilities to find appropriate paid employment which makes the most of their talent and potential.

The service ensures that people with disabilities are actively helped to access employment advice and guidance.

Action for Blind People

Run by the London Employment Development Centre, Action for Blind People offers training and support to visually impaired people, no matter where they are on the road to employment.

This includes trying out various pieces of specialist equipment such as computers with speech software.

Croydon Mencap

Mencap services include residential, education and employment services, leisure opportunities and individual support and advice for people with a learning disability, their families and carers.

Mind in Croydon

Provides a wide range of services for people with mental health problems, their relatives and carers. These include advice and information, help with welfare benefits, advocacy, parenting advocacy, social networking, active minds, employment support, a furniture project and individual packages of support for people with personal budgets (www.mindmatch.org.uk). It also offers professional counselling to people with psychological or emotional problems, including one-to-one counselling and group therapy.

Shaw Trust

Shaw Trust is a national charity that provides training and work opportunities for people who are disadvantaged in the labour market due to disability, ill health or other social circumstances. They are the largest UK provider of employment services for disabled people.

Working Links

Working Links was established in 2000 to deliver the Government's Employment Zones in some of Britain's most disadvantaged communities. They are now firmly established as one of the most successful organisations at helping people get back to work, long-term.
