Drug and alcohol services
About the service
Our service is called Croydon Substance Misuse Teams. The teams are made up of staff who work for the NHS (South London and Maudsley Trust) and staff who work for Croydon Council Social Services Department. The staff group is made up of psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, drug workers, mental health specialists (dual diagnosis) and care managers who work together to help you find the best solution for your particular problem and situation.
Assessment
This service needs an assessment. If you contact us about your own use of drugs or alcohol, your needs will be assessed. This means that someone will check with you whether this particular service is right for you, or whether we need to put you in touch with a more suitable service.
If you contact the service about someone else who you are concerned about, somebody will talk to you about how to get the most suitable help for that person.
Service provision
Some of the services we provide are:
- advice and information
- one-to-one support
- medication
- methadone maintenance
- drug and alcohol detoxification
- hepatitis B and C testing
- hepatitis B vaccination
- community care assessments
- access to rehabilitation programmes
Costs
Most of the services on offer will not cost you anything. You may have to pay towards the cost of some services, depending on your financial situation. This will be discussed with you when you contact us.
How to contact us
You can come in or make an appointment by telephone. If you come in you may be seen by one of the NHS staff on duty, or you may be given an appointment to return at another time. If you wish to see a care manager, you need to make an appointment.
