Health and social care

This scheme offers a child or young person regular periods of care ranging from a few hours to overnight stays, occasionally longer, with another carefully selected family.

Usually, home based carers are linked with only one child or young person and will offer an agreed pattern of care in their own home and on outings and visits.

Home based carers receive an allowance from Social Services to cover expenses and are also provided with equipment which may be needed to support a particular link.
