Pest control treatments
As from 1 January 2010, Croydon council will be working in partnership with Southwark council as our new pest control contractor.
You can request a pest control visit by completing the online form in the "do it online" section on the right hand side.
The new contract with Southwark includes the following benefits for Croydon residents:
- continued free rat treatments for all residents in the borough
- 24 hour emergency call out for rats inside the property, with 4 hour response time
- ability to offer Saturday appointments
- 30% discount on prices for Croydon residents receiving benefits.
The following pests can be treated:
- rats
- mice
- bed bugs
- fleas
- cockroaches
- wasps
- ants
- crawling insects
- birds
- squirrels
- knotweed.
Charges
We provide treatment for rat infestation free of charge to all residential properties in the borough.
If you are a tenant of Croydon council, other pest treatments may also be provided free and some will be chargeable. If you are a private tenant or owner occupier, then there will be a charge for most other pest treatments. Please see below for full details of the charges made.
The rates shown below are the current charges that the council's preferred contractor makes for the service. There is a 30% reduction for people receiving certain benefits (you will need to provide proof that you are in receipt of benefit when the operative arrives before any discount can be applied).
Southwark council is Croydon council's preferred contractor and offers good value for money and a proven track record of high levels of customer service. Residents of Croydon are not obliged to use Southwark's pest control service and are free to obtain quotations from other contractors. Services offered by other companies cannot be booked through the council.
Pest control schedule of rates
Prices valid as of 1 January 2010. All prices include VAT.
A minimum payment of £27.46 is payable to the contractor before the operative will attend, the balance of the fee will be due on the doorstep when the operative arrives, this must be paid by cheque or cash.
These prices are based on an average-sized property of up to three bedrooms. Larger properties and hostels, hotels or residential homes will be subject to survey and a separate quotation will be provided prior to commencement of treatment.

Pest identification and advice
If you bring or send us a sample of any insect pest you may have, we will be happy to identify it and give advice on how to treat the infestation.
We also have a range of leaflets giving useful information and advice on most of the commonly occurring pests.
