- Changing secondary schools

A change of School is not always in the best of interests of a child. However, if this cannot be avoided and if you live locally, you are strongly advised not to remove your son/daughter from his/her current School until you have secured an alternative School place. Sometimes there can be delays in securing alternative Secondary School places; loss of education can be avoided if your son/daughter continues in attendance at his/her current School while you pursue arrangements for the transfer.
Where to apply:
Community Schools:
If you are seeking a transfer to a Community Secondary Schools, you can download the Application Form and the Statement of Admissions Criteria or telephone the Council's Contact Centre and ask for a form to be sent to you. The form must be returned to the Council.
Foundation, Voluntary Aided, the Performing Arts College or an Academy:
If you are seeking a transfer to a Foundation or Voluntary Aided School, the Performing Arts College or an Academy, you must apply direct to the School. The application form can be downloaded in some cases; otherwise please contact the School.
