Primary school places
The age at which a parent has a legal obligation to ensure that their child starts school is as follows:
- Child's 5th birthday falls between 1 April and 31 August
1 September following his/her 5th birthday - Child's 5th birthday falls between 1 September and 31 December
1 January following his/her 5th birthday - Child's 5th birthday falls between 1 January and 31 March
1 April following his/her 5th birthday
In Croydon all children are able to start primary school during the autumn term of the school year in which they reach the age of five.
Children are able to leave school on the last Friday in June of the school year in which they reach 16 years of age.
