Section 52 reports
There are two Section 52 reports each year. The first is published at the start of the financial year and relates to the education budget for the financial year. The second is published in early autumn and gives information on the education outurn position for the previous financial year.
This report is an additional projection of the position for 2007/2008 as at March 2006. It is based around an assumption about pupil numbers for January 2007. The funding for individual schools and for the LA will change as the number of pupils changes. It also assumes that the funding formula is the same as for 2006/2007 and that the numbers of units for the various factors (eg free school meals or prior attainment) are the same. Users should thus be cautious in making decisions based on the information provided. The actual budget statement will not be published until March 2007 and it is only then that the actual amounts will be finalised.
Publishing involves making available copies to the department for children, schools and families (DCSF) and to schools. This is achieved through making them available through this website. Any member of the public is entitled to have access to the reports at any school.
The school tables relate to nursery, primary, secondary and special schools.
Each return is made up of a number of tables, the structure being specified by the DCSF.
The projected budget statement has the following tables:
- Table 1 - local authority (LA) overall picture of planned spending on educational provision
- Table 1 - CEL annex - central expenditure limit
- Table 2 - main formula funding elements for all individual schools
- Table 3a - the LA funding formula for nursery, primary and secondary schools
- Table 3b - the LA funding formula for special schools
- Table 4 - the LA funding formula for schools in detail
