Aims:

  • To promote reading to children aged 3 to 13.
  • To encourage children to become readers of a range of literature.
  • To involve parents in their children's reading.

Brief description: 

An annual reader development promotion runs during the school summer holiday. Children read from a list of titles and answer questions or write reviews about what they have read.

Children are offered incentives such as badges and pens to encourage extensive reading.

Key learning points:

  • To develop reading skills.
  • To promote reading as an enjoyable pastime for all the family.
  • To extend and develop knowledge of and interest in fiction among children and their parents.
