Social care performance
As part of the national performance assessment framework for adult social services the council has to submit statutory returns and a self-assessment each year reporting on its performance against a range of performance indicators and setting targets for the coming year. These contribute to the judgments made by our external regulators, the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), about how we are performing and in turn CSCI's assessments contribute to the council's Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) score.
In 2007 adult social care services were judged as 'delivering good outcomes' for the people who use our services with 'excellent capacity for improvement' and we were awarded the maximum three stars for our performance. We are one of 32 per cent of local councils in England and 45 per cent in London to have been awarded the top star rating.
The Commission for Social Care Inspection regulates our services and provides a simple guide, "Choosing the Right Social Care", on its website. We've provided a link to this under 'Associated links'. In addition, their website details the standards we follow in providing appropriate care as well as inspection reports.
