Our first 100 days

To mark the first 100 days in office of the Conservative administration in May 2006, Councillor Mark Fisher has written a detailed report on the steps taken so far by the new local government.

In this report he concentrates on the goals outlined in the Performance Improvement Plan, published in June.

They are:

  • Safer streets
  • Safer neighbourhoods
  • Safer roads
  • Stronger deterrants against antisocial behaviour

Better environment

  • More opportunities for recycling and protecting the environment
  • Cleaner streets
  • Enhanced green and open spaces

Retaining Croydon's character

  • Revitalised town and district centres
  • Better cultural and leisure provision

Sense of community

  • More opportunities for children and young people
  • Better care for old people
  • More support for adults needing care

Value for money

  • Sound financial management
  • Stronger performance management
  • A streamlined organisation
  • Focusing on the customer
