Have Your Say
We Want To Hear Your Views
The Local Government Act 2000 has placed on the Council the duty to "promote the economic, social and environmental well-being of the community it serves". The role of Scrutiny and Overview is to scrutinise the Council's work in this respect and to examine issues which impact on the community's well being and put forward recommendations for improvements where needed.
Another aim of the Scrutiny function, enshrined in the above legislation, is to promote local democracy and encourage residents to take a part in shaping their own borough.
Meetings
The simplest way of finding out more about the Scrutiny function is to be an observer at its meetings.
Having Your Say
In addition, we would like to hear from you on issues affecting the borough, its development and its well-being. At this stage, we would be particularly interested to hear:
- what you think are the important issues for the borough;
- what topics you feel should be considered for Scrutiny reviews;
- your views about the work of a particular sub-committee;
- whether you find this website useful.
However, we welcome all your comments about issues affecting Croydon as a whole, its people, and its environment. To do this, please complete the on-line form available at the bottom of this page.
A few thoughts
If your comments do not affect the whole of Croydon but are important for your local area, you may wish to attend your local Neighbourhood Partnership and put forward your suggestion there.
If you are a council tenant and have suggestions on how to improve your locality, the tenant participation team would like to hear from you. Click here to find out more about Tenant Participation and how to get involved.</>
If you have a comment or suggestion about a specific service, you can use the A-Z directory of services to get in touch with the department or organisation you need.
The work of the Scrutiny function does not include handling individual queries or complaints, and any such communication will be forwarded to the department responsible for it.
What will we do with your comments?
We want to build a picture of residents' views on local issues, and will report back on what you think is important for Croydon every three months on this screen.
When e-mailing us please ensure that you provide us with your name and either an address or telephone number so that we can respond to your query/comment or provide you with appropriate information.
