Vision and priorities
- Our vision for Croydon

As a leading partner of the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP), the Council shares the Partnership's vision which was developed following extensive consultation with local communities and businesses. The LSP's vision is:
To create a place which is safer, healthier, more prosperous and sustainable - a place where people choose to live, work, visit and socialise, and which is addressing the needs of the future.
To help achieve the vision for Croydon, everyone in the LSP is focusing on the seven themes in Croydon's Sustainable Community Strategy:
- Creating inclusive communities
- Achieving better outcomes for children and young people
- Improving health and social care
- Feeling safer by reducing crime and disorder
- Improving the environment
- Regenerating the borough.
- Value for money
Local people's priorities - Our priorities
The six themes in Croydon's Sustainable Community Strategy provide the focus for the Council’s broader strategic and financial planning to help us deliver better services for Croydon and to provide value for money. To make sure that we are best-placed to help deliver the Sustainable Community Strategy, we know that as an organisation we need to have a clear sense of purpose, be strong, flexible, innovative, and improving.
That's why following May 2006's local elections, the Council re-assessed and re-invigorated its own corporate priorities to reflect what local people had said they want us to deliver, namely:
- Safer streets - helping to make Croydon safer.
- Providing a better environment - aiming to make Croydon even greener.
- Retaining Croydon’s character - ensuring sensitive development which meets local needs.
- Providing a sense of community - aiming to give everyone in Croydon a sense of belonging.
- Value for money - services at an affordable council tax.
