London Borough of Croydon

Housing Strategy 2006-2010

The council's housing strategy is our overarching plan over four years. It covers the full spectrum of services we provide, or fund and assist others to provide, as well as the policies we have in place to influence and direct the provision and quality of housing in both the social housing sector (council and housing association homes) and the private market. It sets out our overall ambitions in terms of six key objectives:

  • maximise the supply of housing and meet housing need
  • enable vulnerable people to lead independent lives
  • improve housing conditions to ensure a decent home for all
  • develop sustainable communities and promote neighbourhood renewal
  • promote better and fair access to housing services
  • implement and develop the housing strategy.

The strategy comprises:

  • Housing Strategy 2006-2010 – the strategy document that sets out the main local needs and issues together with our main aims, priorities and strategies for services over the coming years
  • Housing Strategy 2006-2010 Summary
  • Housing Strategy 2006-2010 Action Plan – the detailed action plan
  • Housing Strategy 2006-2010 Evidence Base – a reference document with more detailed information and analysis used in developing the strategy, the resources available and options for action considered
  • Partnership and Consultation Structure – a description of the range of partnerships used to consult on, develop and achieve the priorities of the housing strategy
  • Housing Strategy Equality Impact Assessment – a detailed consideration of equalities issues in relation to the housing strategy.
