The Empty Property Strategy is a three-year strategy aimed at reducing the number of empty properties in the private sector in Croydon.
It contributes to the regeneration of the borough and the reduction of crime and disorder by ensuring empty properties are made safe and secure and, ultimately, brought back into use.
The strategy:
- aims to bring at least 360 properties back in use by 2008
- will assist us in meeting the continuing housing need in the borough by providing increased housing choice
- recognizes the problems empty properties create for the local community, and provides a number of flexible solutions and action plans to bring them back into use
- is for anyone affected by empty property issues: owners, homeless households, key workers, landlords, investors and people applying for housing in Croydon.
