The Housing department has a number of strategies and policies covering its activities.
The Housing Strategy 2006-2010 is the overarching strategy that sets out our main aims, priorities and strategies over the coming years. A number of associated strategies deal with more specific areas:
- Homelessness Strategy 2008-2013 - for preventing homelessness, meeting the housing needs of homeless people and providing support where needed
- The Homelessness Review 2008 - looks at existing levels of need and the services available, identifying the key issues to be addressed by the strategy
- Empty Property Strategy 2005-2008 - for reducing the number of empty properties in the private sector in Croydon
- Supporting People Strategy 2005-2010 - our plans for housing-related services such as sheltered housing, homeless hostel and support given to people in their own home. These housing support services aim to help people to live independently.
The South West London Partnership
The seven boroughs in south west London have formed a new partnership with the aim of investing in local housing and addressing a range of needs in the area. The partnership has produced three strategies:
- South West London Housing Strategy 2004 - the overall housing strategy for the south west London sub-region
- South West London Private Sector Housing Strategy 2006 - for renewing private sector housing and reducing the number of empty properties in south west London
- Intermediate and Key Worker Housing Strategy 2007 - for increasing access by households on low to moderate incomes to low-cost home ownership and intermediate renting where rents fall between social and market rents.
