Croydon's Tourism Strategy 2005-2008

This document has been developed by Croydon's Cultural Partnership and outlines plans for tourism in Croydon.

It sets out the contribution that can be made to tourism through partnership working.

It is intended to provide a structure for the development of the tourism industry at a local and regional level, and to enable all tourism stakeholders in Croydon to access opportunities for support and development.

The strategy is set out in themes to show what Croydon has to offer its visitors.

The strategy aims to:

  • Create a strong image and public awareness of Croydon's culture
  • Improve public perception of Croydon
  • Raise Croydon's profile as a sound investment for business development and the visitor economy
  • Demonstrate the contribution that tourism makes to the local economy
  • Increase awareness of Croydon as a Gateway to London and the south-east
  • Sustain and develop a sense of pride in the quality of services provided
  • Increase recognition and support for the skills required in delivering tourism services
  • Support and empower local involvement in tourism activities.

We have consulted with Croydon residents to ensure that the ideas put forward in this document are the right ones, that the priorities reflect what is important to local people and actions planned will make effective use of resources available.
