This document has been developed by Croydon's Cultural Partnership and outlines plans for sport and phsical activity in Croydon. It details the priorities and vision and ways in which, through working in partnership, we can improve opportunities that will benefit all that live, work and visit the borough.

The overall aim of this strategy is to increase participation in sport and physical activity to realise improvements in health, social and economic well being.

Citizens that choose to adopt healthier, more active lifestyles by taking part in sport and physical activity. That a more positive attitude towards sport and physical activity is cultivated by promoting the benefits and enjoyment that can be gained.

An active Croydon equals a healthy Croydon!

The strategy aims to:

  • Encourage and support volunteer and community involvement in sport and physical activity.
  • Improve the provision, quality of and access to facilities and services in order to increase participation.
  • Increase awareness of the sport and physical activity opportunities and the benefits of participation.
  • Improve and support pathways to progress and succeed in competitive sport.

We have consulted with our residents to ensure that the ideas put forward in this document are the right ones, that the priorities reflect what is important to local people and actions planned will make effective use of resources available.
