Croydon's Public Realm Strategy 2006-2009
The public realm comprises everything from our doorsteps, streets, squares, space in between buildings, transport interchanges, parks, conservation areas, and footpaths. In the past, the delivery of improvements to the public realm in Croydon has not been informed by an overall strategy.
This document is intended to provide a strategic framework to ensure that Croydon’s public realm is attractive, clean, unpolluted and safe. It will enable better coordination of those involved in the design, management and maintenance of the public realm. It also seeks to ensure high quality is inherent in the design, management and maintenance of the streetscape.
The focus for the future needs to be on joining up, enhancing and supporting work in the public realm - moving away from the implementation of single strategies in isolation of one another.
