You can only vote in elections if your name is on the electoral register (also known as the electoral roll).
Local Government elections will be held on Thursday 6 May and the last date for registration is Tuesday 20 April 2010.
Poll cards
Poll cards are delivered two weeks before an election. Each member of the household who is eligible to vote should receive a poll card which states the date of the election, the hours of poll and where the polling station is. If you do not receive a poll card before an election, but think you are registered to vote, please contact Electoral Services.
You do not need to take the poll card with you to be able to vote.
