Registering to vote
1 December - 8 August
The electoral register is updated monthly between January and September. This is known as rolling registration. In order for your registration details to be updated during these months, you must complete and return an individual registration form by each month's deadline.
The final monthly update of the year takes place on 1 September. Applications to register for this update must be received by 8 August.
If you miss this deadline the earliest you can register is on 1 December when the revised electoral register is published. You must register using the household registration forms sent to your address. If your registration details are updated on 1 September you must still return your annual registration form. Rolling registration will begin again following the publication of the revised electoral register on 1 December.
Each application must be completed and signed by the applicant.
Elections are important. You can only vote in elections for the council, Greater London Mayor and Assembly, or national or European parliaments if your name is included in the register of electors when nominations close.
