The measures are intended to help improve safety and access - especially on match days at the football stadium.
The proposed introduction of the restrictions is Croydon Council's response to growing public concern about parking provision in the area - mainly resulting from poor parking by those attending football matches. The difficulty is particularly an issue at road junctions where parking can obstruct sight lines and emergency services.
Full details of the proposals including all the locations are set out in papers to be considered by the council's traffic management cabinet committee on 12 June.
The report states that supporters visiting Selhurst Park leave their cars over a large area and are willing to walk over a mile to get to the ground. Although many junctions in the area have already been marked with double yellow lines owing to the mounting parking problems, 38 within walking distance of the stadium currently have no markings. These are the junctions that the council says should now be treated with the double yellow line waiting restrictions. Most are close to existing parking restrictions, which will make them easier to enforce.
Although match day parking is a particular issue for residents, the council says the measures should help throughout the week. A programme is in place to introduce similar restrictions at most junctions in the borough.
Following publication of a formal public notice, there will be a 21-day period in which to comment or object to the proposals. Relevant objections will then be reported back to the committee before the final go ahead is obtained.
With full approval it is possible that the markings will be painted on the roadway by the end of the year.
Said cabinet member for environment and highways, Councillor Phil Thomas: "These proposals have been designed as a positive move to improve access and safety by all road users at all times. However, we do expect they will be particularly appreciated by residents on match days.”
