Croydon Council, together with a number of voluntary groups, is organising 'Carry on Caring' in recognition of the valuable contribution carers make to those they care for and the wider community.

The day will give carers a well-deserved chance to talk and socialise with other carers as well as taking part in arts and crafts activities. Depending on their mood, attendees can participate in dance exercise or relaxation classes.

Representatives from a wide range of organisations will be on hand to offer advice and answer questions and there will be lots of information for carers to take away. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and a buffet lunch provided.

Croydon's cabinet member for health and adult social care, Councillor Margaret Mead, said: "Being a carer can be very isolating and many can feel overlooked and taken for granted. This day promises to be a great opportunity for carers to meet, exchange experiences and learn about support available locally.

"Anyone who looks after a family member, friend or neighbour who needs help due to illness, frailty or disability is a carer. We want to say thank you to these unsung heroes and give them a well-deserved break and show them that they are not alone."

Pre-booking for the event is essential. Anyone interested in attending should contact Crossroads on 020 8667 9893.
