Outstanding results have been achieved by Croydon Adult Learning and Training (CALAT) learners in this year's GCSEs and AS Level exams.
One hundred per cent of learners who took Spanish GCSE achieved A* or A, and 90% of learners achieved these grades in Russian. In English, all learners achieved A* - C and 94% achieved a pass in maths.
An enthusiastic group of Italian learners are celebrating their excellent results in the AS Italian exams. They achieved a 100% pass rate overall, and 70% gained grades A or B. Most of the group started Italian as beginners and achieved good GCSE results a year or so ago.
Croydon Council's cabinet member for children’s services and adult learning, Councillor Maria Gatland said: "These fantastic results show that it is never too late too learn and that mastering a new language whether for social, intellectual or business reasons can be of great benefit."
CALAT is offering AS level courses for next year in Spanish and Russian; A level A2 in Italian, and GCSE courses in English, maths, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Turkish. All courses begin in September 2008. For further details of these and other courses call 0870 556 1630 or visit the website: www.calat.ac.uk.
