The further elevation follows the recent confirmation of Nathan Elvery as executive director of resources and customer services, and Hannah Miller as executive director of adult services and housing.
As part of the restructuring initiated by Jon Rouse in his first year as the council's chief executive, the management has slimmed from seven to five departments, allowing the chief officer team to provide a greater focus on leadership within the organisation.
Both Nathan and Hannah were in post as chief officers prior to Jon Rouse's appointment. Nathan became the youngest finance director in London when he joined Croydon in 2004 at the age of 35. He had previously been assistant director for finance and business at Westminster where he had been responsible for one of the country's largest customer services initiatives.
Hannah Miller rejoined Croydon as director of social services in 1998 after a three-year spell with the London Borough of Islington where she had been the chief social services officer. She originally joined Croydon in 1985.
Newly arrived at Croydon as executive director of community services is Tom Jeffrey who has moved across the borough boundary from Sutton. Dave Hill, currently with Merton, has been appointed executive director of children, young people and learners and will be joining Croydon next month. Recruitment for the final position as executive director of planning, regeneration and conservation is under way.
