Fairchildes Children's Centre, in Fairchildes Avenue next to Fairchildes Primary and Infants school, provides local parents with children under five with a range of services and support.

Parents of young babies can benefit from breast feeding advice and baby massage and the centre has a health visitor community clinic. Twice a week there are family ‘stay and play' sessions together with singing and story time for toddlers and babies.

Every Friday the centre holds family learning sessions and parents can also benefit from support and advice from Job Centre Plus. An outreach service is provided to support families in need.

Croydon Council's cabinet member for children's services and adult learning, Councillor Maria Gatland, said: "There will be fun for all the family at the official opening, with a bouncy castle and children's entertainer and head and hand massage available for weary parents. I urge local families to come along between 1pm and 4pm, enjoy themselves and find out just what the children's centre has to offer."

Fairchildes Children's Centre has been open since January but the deputy mayor will officially open the centre by unveiling a plaque and planting a fruit tree in the garden.

For more information about the centre, contact Fairchildes family service co-ordinator, Cheryle Sutherland on 01689 847136.
