Croydon Council Leader Mike Fisher's Reflections
-
Leading from the Front
I intend producing a fairly regular commentary as a means of passing on my thoughts and observations as council leader. I'm not doing this with any delusion of self-importance but because my elected position means I should be accessible and accountable. I'm afraid I'm not in a position to invite comments or engage in a dialogue but I hope that through communicating in this way, I will be able to show that the council I'm privileged to lead really does care about what's happening in the borough - at present and in future.

Another stabbing
The murder in Thornton Heath of a 16-year-old youth from outside the borough coincided with a teenaged girl being cleared of murdering another teenager in Old Town.
-
Looking ahead
I've thought a lot about the Press and its interaction with our society of late, along with the success of our borough's school children, the perception of crime in contrast with crime figures, and the changes in the GLA.

The latest issues
I have been looking at a number of issues recently, so I thought I would share my thoughts on a number of issues, including our crime reduction strategy, my position on Purley pool and some facts about recycling in the borough.

Mike Fisher's Leading Lines
I'm launching my commentary on a few of the things that have caught my attention in the Town Hall recently. These include Council Tax for 2008/9, the New Addington regeneration and some great feedback from both the Audit Commission and Beacon Council Awards on how the council is run.
