Gating orders

Gating orders restrict access to public right of way to help reduce antisocial behaviour and crime.

Councils now have the power to restrict access to public right of way. It can be introduced to help reduce antisocial behaviour and crime.

Before a gating order is implemented there must be public consultation and agreement.

In some cases planning permission is also needed.
