In an emergency

Croydon Council recognises that, while unlikely, a major emergency can happen at any time. In the case of a major emergency, when police, fire or ambulance service attendance is required, dial 999 immediately.

Emergencies

Croydon Council maintains a 24-hour emergency support service to ensure that when other emergencies occur, specialist help is available. That help can be obtained through the Council telephone number 020 8726 6000.

Potential incidents or disasters which would require an emergency response include:

  • air transport crashes
  • rail system disasters
  • large chemical and pollution incidents
  • disorder incidents
  • bombs and other terrorist activity
  • extreme weather - storms and flooding
  • building and structural collapse
  • war.

The immediate response by the emergency services to incidents of this nature would require emergency support response from the council and other agencies.
We therefore maintain an emergency response capability so that if an emergency does occur, appropriate support can be deployed. This service functions 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through the security and emergency control room at Taberner House.

Police stations

In an emergency telephone 999.

If your need is less urgent, contact your local police station. If you need to report a crime, and are not in immediate danger, the police often prefer you to visit the station in person.

You can also report lost and found property to police by telephone.

If you are new to the area, the crime prevention unit at your local police station will be able to give you a profile of crime where you live. You can also get advice on how to make your home more secure.
