Croydon Register Office
- Introduction to the register office

- Location

Use the Croydon Register Office to:
- register a birth or death, re-register a birth or give notice of marriage (by appointment only)
- conduct civil marriages (either at the Register Office itself or at other premises approved for civil marriages in Croydon)
- provide copies of birth, death and marriage certificates relating to Croydon only (no appointment is necessary)
- conduct general searches of the indices for births, deaths and marriages (at the discretion of the chief superintendent registrar and by appointment).
You can now use our online facility to book an appointment to register a birth or death, re-register a birth or give notice of marriage.
Births and deaths which occurred in other districts may be registered in Croydon by declaration only. However, the council cannot issue certificates for events registered by declaration. These will be issued by the borough in which the event occurred.
If you urgently need assistance outside of regular opening hours - such as when a burial must be completed within 24 hours for religious reasons - call the counci's main telephone number and the security officer will contact the chief superintendent registrar on your behalf. The registrar on duty will then contact you.
Opening times
Monday - Friday 9.30 am to 4.30pm.
