Marriage - copies of certificates

To obtain a copy of a marriage certificate, you need the following information relating to the married couple:

  • marriage venue
  • date of marriage
  • full names of both parties (for the woman, her surname before marriage). 

The fee is £7.00 for each certificate.

Note: General Register Office (GRO) references do not apply at the Croydon Register Office.  If you have one of these references, you can apply for a certificate from the General Register Office.

Payment

Cheques or postal orders should be made payable to "Croydon Council".  A cheque guarantee card details, e.g. card number and expiry date, are also required.
If applying by post, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope and your phone number. If applying from outside the UK you will need to send an international money order drawn on an British bank in pounds sterling.

Note: we are unable to accept Canadian postal orders.
