The EQUA Forum
- EQUA introduction

What is EQUA
So that we can make sure our health and social care services are equally accessed by black and minority users, we have set up a black and minority ethnic advisory group.
We conducted a number of outreach sessions all over Croydon to attract and engage our wide variety of black and minority ethnic communities.
The EQUA Forum is a group of black and minority ethnic organisations that meet to discuss issues relevant to health and social care for adults (adult social services) and children (children, young people and learners) every three months.
What EQUA do
Through EQUA, we have developed a rapport with sections of the black and minority community that would not otherwise have been reached by us.
With EQUA's help, we work towards bringing about change in services and in service planning and development.
This helps us make sure we:
- provide user-friendly information, including necessary translations
- give fair access to culturally appropriate services, which are also sensitive to cultural and religious needs
- identify possible barriers and reasons why people do not access existing services.
Membership
Membership is open to representatives from black community organisations and to representatives from minority ethnic communities.
