Croydon sanctuary project

What does the project do?

If you are eligible for the scheme, a crime prevention officer will carry out a security survey of your home and recommend security measures. We will then arrange for a specialist contractor to carry out the work.

Eligibility

To qualify for and benefit from this scheme, you need to meet some criteria:

  • you would have to leave your home if the work was not done
  • the police must be aware of or investigating your situation
  • you must be receiving support from an appropriate agency as a result of domestic violence
  • must live in the Borough of Croydon
  • must have the legal right to change locks on the property.

Do I have to be a council tenant?

No, the scheme is open to everyone. We will need to ask for the landlord's permission if you are a private or housing association tenant. Housing associations may be asked to contribute towards the cost of the work.

How do I refer a friend to the scheme?

The best way is to contact one of the agencies listed below and work through them. If you have any queries, please contact the sanctuary administrator.
