Bereavement services

Coping with a bereavement is one of the most difficult tasks of our lives. At Croydon Council, we help you cope during this period of grief by removing as many obstacles as possible and providing as much assistance as we can.

We offer assistance and guidance regarding the many administrative and official tasks that need to be tackled at this time. We answer queries, help with bereavement training and can provide free community-focused assistance, including open days to prepare people for bereavement and help them cope, guided walks and memorial services.

If no one is able or willing to arrange and pay for the funeral, we may be able to help, but only where the funeral has not already been arranged. We will, however, make a claim on the deceased's estate to pay for the funeral.  Contact Social Services for Adults (even if the funeral is for a child) on the number below.
