Grants and funding - voluntary organisations
Council funding opportunities
Croydon Council is committed to supporting a vibrant, innovative and effective voluntary sector. We recognise the independence of the voluntary sector and the unique role of voluntary and community groups in allowing local people to express their needs, and to develop services to meet those needs.
We support voluntary and community initiatives through various funding programmes. We may also provide indirect support by making premises available to voluntary groups, providing rate relief, giving professional advice and support, and supporting bids to other funding agencies.
All applications for funding are assessed against our corporate strategic priorities set out in the council's community strategy. Priority is given to applications which make a positive contribution towards achieving the six key priorities in service delivery and development:
- better and fairer access
- improving health and social care
- reducing crime and disorder
- improving the environment
- education and lifelong learning
- regenerating the borough.

Compact
In 2002 the Council, Croydon Health Authority (now Primary Care Trust) and the local voluntary sector signed up to a set of shared principles underpinning their relationships. In September 2003 this was further endorsed together with action plans in the five key compact areas as the Croydon Compact. The compact and supporting documents can be downloaded from the link below.Downloads
