Croydon Strategic Partnership
Structure of the Croydon Strategic Partnership
This case study outlines Croydon's partnership family which together makes up its Local Strategic Partnership (LSP).
The recent 'Evaluation of Local Strategic Partnership' conducted on behalf of the office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) highlighted that LSPs nationally find difficulty in engaging the community and business sectors, engaging particular key partner agencies, and developing an effective structure.
A study of LSPs in London highlighted the difficulties in finding the balance between being inclusive and having a core group that is small enough to effectively agree priorities and make decisions.
The Croydon Strategic Partnerships comprises the following components:
- Strategic Partnership Board Chief Executives Group
- Theme Partnerships and Sub Groups
- The Community Network
- Neighbourhood Partnerships
- Business Development Partnership
- Task Groups
- Professional Networks
- Strategic Partnership Unit and Partnership Managers.
The board does not have executive powers, and will refer decisions to the governing bodies of the partnership agencies. However, once a view is formed by the board, it is highly likely it will be agreed by these bodies as their senior representatives sit on the board.
