Licence - sex establishment
Premises that sell R18 (adult) videos and DVDs and other adult materials must have a licence this is a requirement of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982.
If you operate a cinema where a significant percentage of the films shown are concerned primarily with or related to, or are intended to stimulate, sexual activity you may also need a licence.
A licence may be issued for part use or whole use of the premises.
How to apply for a licence
The licence is valid for one year and operates from the 1 March - 28 February; however, you may apply for a licence at any time during the year.
To renew an existing licence by debit/credit card, click on the "Shop for it” link to your right.
If you are applying for a licence for the first time please download and complete the application and directors forms and send them to the address below together with the appropriate fee. Cheques should be made payable to Croydon Council (see licence and registration fees page).
You will be contacted by a licensing officer who will make arrangements to carry out an inspection of your premises in accordance with the licensing conditions.
