At present betting shops are licensed by the Magistrates Court.
The Gambling Act 2005 is bringing major changes to the licensing regime. In 2006, the council published its Gambling Statement of Principles.
Since 2007, we have been able to issue gambling premises permits. Personal licences will continue to be issued by the Gambling Commission.
