Marriage premises approval

If you operate a business premises and would like to offer it as a venue for marriages or civil partnerships you should apply to us for approval under the Marriage Act 1994 and Civil Partnerships Act 2004.

How to apply for approval

The approval is valid for three years from the date of its grant.

To renew an existing licence by debit/credit card, click on the "Pay for it" link to your right. 

If you are applying for a licence for the first time please download and complete the application form and send it to the address below, together with the relevant fee (see Licence and registration fees page). Cheques should be made payable to Croydon Council. 
 
You will be contacted by a licensing officer who will make arrangements to carry out an inspection of your premises in accordance with the approval conditions.

You will also be contacted by the marriage registrar who will make a visit to ensure that the proposed venue is deemed dignified for ceremonies.
