Premises where dangerous wild animals are kept must have a licence. These include monkeys, poisonous snakes and certain reptiles and spiders. This is a requirement of the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976.

How to apply for a licence
The licence is valid for one year and operates from the 1st January to the 31st December but you can apply at any time during the year.
To renew an existing licence by debit/credit card, click on the "Shop for it” link to your right.
If you are applying for a licence for the first time please download and complete the application form and send it to the address below. Do not send any money with your form as the fee will be apportioned in accordance with the date you apply.
A licensing officer will contact you and make arrangements to carry out an inspection, accompanied by an approved vet who will set licensing conditions.

To make a complaint about someone who keeps dangerous animals, please complete an online customer feedback form.
