Licence - dog breeding
You will need a licence if four or more litters of puppies are born within one calendar year at your premises for the purposes of commercial sale.
This is a requirement of the Breeding of Dogs Act 1973.
How to apply for a licence
The licence is valid for one year and operates from the 1st January - 31st December, however, you can apply for a licence at any time during that period.
To renew an existing licence by debit/credit card, click on the "Shop for it” link to your right.
If you are applying for a licence for the first time please download and complete the application form and send it to the address below. Do not send any money with your form as the fee will be apportioned in accordance with the date you apply.
You will be contacted by a Licensing Officer who will make arrangements to carry out an inspection of your premises accompanied by an approved vet who will set the licensing conditions.
