Licence - boarding animals

If you wish to board dogs or cats in your home or business premises you need a licence under the Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963.

See the list of currently licensed boarding establishments above.

How to apply for a licence

The licence is valid for one year and operates from 1 January to the 31 December, however you can apply at any time during that period.

To renew an existing licence by debit/credit card, click on the "Shop for it” link to your right.

If you are applying for a licence for the first time please download and complete the application form and send it to the address below.  Do not send any money with your form as the fee will be apportioned in accordance with the date you apply.

A licensing officer will contact you and make arrangements to carry out an inspection of the premises in accordance with the rules of management, which you can read below. The officer could be accompanied by an approved vet.
