Sports grant
Funding levels
We give £7,000 each year in grants to clubs and individuals. Most of this supports local sportsmen and women because clubs are eligible for Awards for All and other National Lottery small award schemes. However, we still consider applications from clubs.
Priorities and criteria
We give grants to local sportsmen and women to support their development. We positively encourage disabled people to apply. Some of the people we have funded have gone on to achieve Olympic and World Championship success.
Individual applicants must be of a registered or national standard within their sport. These sports should be recognised by Sport England. Other assessment criteria include need, potential and the ability to obtain grant-aid elsewhere.
Funding is given to subsidise
- coaching and medical fees
- travel expenses
- equipment costs
- special dietary needs
- other relevant costs
We generally only give grants to clubs for 'pump priming' only.
Further information about priorities and criteria for funding is given in the Voluntary and Community Organisations Funding Guide see link below.
