Why is paying by direct debit easier?

Paying by direct debit is easier because once it has been set up all you have to do is make sure that there is enough money in your bank account to cover your council tax payment. We do the rest.

To make things even easier, we offer our direct debit payers a choice of four payment dates. They can choose to pay on the 1st, 5th, 15th or 25th of the month. Only direct debit payers have this choice. All other council tax payers must pay by the 5th of the month.

Direct debits are safe and secure because they are covered by the direct debit guarantee (see link above).

Why does the council want you to pay by direct debit?

It costs the council money to collect the council tax but the cheapest way to do so is by direct debit. Remember, when we save money, we save your money.

How to set up a direct debit

Or you can phone us on the number below and we will take your bank account details over the phone. You can also download the form at the bottom of the page, complete it and post it to the address on the form.
