What is council tax benefit?

Council tax benefit is based on:

  • the amount of council tax you are charged
  • the income and savings of yourself, your partner and anybody over 18 who lives with you
  • the personal circumstances of yourself, your partner and anybody over 18 who lives with you
  • it is paid by us directly into your council tax account.
